During Day 1, The Guest of Honor, Rt Hon Graham Stuart MP, Minister of State, Department for Energy Security & Net Zero gave a keynote presentation about the Role of Solar in the UK’s Pathway to Net Zero. After that, Tim Warham, Renewable Electricity Senior Policy Advisor, Department for Energy Security and Net Zero and Chris Hewett, Chief Executive, Solar Energy UK held a fireside chat about the Direction of Travel for Solar Policy in the UK.

Day 1 featured a number of key takeaways, including the UK Government’s pledge to install 70 GW of solar power by 2035, the significance of Nationally Significant Infrastructure Projects (NSIPs) in the solar energy sector, difficulties in the supply chain, and skills shortages in the UK solar industry, as well as insights from Ofgem and NGESO into UK energy policy and regulation.

During Day 2, Dr. Alan Whitehead MP, Shadow Minister for Energy and the Green New Deal talked about the Labour’s Vision for the UK Solar Industry. The day also included interesting panel discussions from large corporates such as Network Rail, RECKITT, Digital Realty and UK Warehousing Association who shared how large companies are approaching PPAs.

During the event, the PSC UK team had a chance to speak with participants from different organizations, including companies working on Solar PV manufacturing and solution providers, as well as Solar and BESS project developers in UK and Ireland. This provided us with the opportunity to get to know key industry figures, understand their needs and pain points, and also to share PSC’s expertise and capability in finding common ground and exploring synergies for potential collaborations in the future.
